For a company’s data to be secure, the computer
networks must be properly configured and maintained.
Truewater believes that a thorough network
assessment is an important first step in accessing
the condition of the current system. Listed are the key evaluation points assessed.
BACKUP RELIABILITY
We access your backup solution to determine whether your critical business
data is being backed up and evaluate your ability to
recover from a disaster. This includes such things as storage of data on the
file server, scheduled media rotation and off-site storage.
VIRUS PROTECTION
Viruses can spread through emails, programs, music
or pictures. The assessment will determine if your
anti-virus software has been updated and is capable
of scanning across all machines on the network.
SECURITY
During the assessment we check for common internal security holes
that can compromise your network, if exploited. Additionally, a
basic port scan will be performed to be certain your firewall is protecting
your network from intruders.
OVERALL PERFORMANCE
We look for speed bottlenecks such as file fragmentation, overloaded hard discs,
insufficient memory, common DNS problems, missing updates and slow or malfunctioning
network cards and switches.
SERVER INTEGRITY & CONFIGURATION
We will examine memory and processor utilization. A check will be made for the presence
of current system updates, server redundancy, error log messages and indications
of system intrusions.
While the decision maker should be available for the
initial background questions and for the follow-up
results, it is not required for the client to be
present during the assessment. This is left to the
client’s discretion.
After the assessment, a report will be
presented that shows how your system compares with
industry standard best practices. Additionally, the
decision maker will be alerted to any serious
findings that warrant immediate attention.
